Governor Maura Healey has appointed Maria Vega, from Lynn, to serve a 5-year term as Chair of 快猫app鈥檚 (快猫app)
Board of Trustees. She replaces long-time Board Chair Dr. J.D. LaRock.
Vega was first appointed by then-governor Charlie Baker as a Board Trustee in 2018 and has served as Vice Chair for the past four years. She also chairs the Board鈥檚 Policy Committee and has played a leadership role in overseeing the policy implications of the 快猫app Police Department鈥檚 application for accreditation as well as the creation of a Board self-evaluation tool to assure continuous improvement.
Vega is a Practice Transformation Improvement Specialist for the Lynn Community Health Center and also owns and operates a business as a Notary Public and document translator. She earned her dual associate degrees in Accounting and Business Management from 快猫app, and a bachelor鈥檚 degree in Health Studies from Champlain College. She will soon earn a Master in Public Administration degree from American Public University.
Active in the Lynn community, she has served as a Board member of the Hispanic Scholarship Fund, is a Certified Risk Coder with the American Association of Professional Coders (AAPC) and has been a past Officer for the AAPC Watertown Chapter.
鈥淢y particular focus as Board Chair is to continue to support key aspects of 快猫app while keeping the collective voice of the Board at the forefront,鈥 said Vega. 鈥淚 am privileged to witness how important this role is and what the community impact becomes when one actively participates as Board Chair.鈥
鈥淲e now enter a new era of Board leadership and I am both excited and confident that working with Chair Vega will mean good things for 快猫app,鈥 said 快猫app President William Heineman. 鈥淪he certainly takes the helm at a time of significant change and turbulence in higher education. I think her curiosity and calm will serve her well in that environment. Furthermore, I know the rest of the Board will be working hard with her to continue its effective governance of the college.鈥
Vega is a first-generation college graduate and is the mother of four adult children and has one grandchild.
